Because this is an invitational contest, the Lynn County Adult Leaders Association does NOT cover entry fees, regardless of raffle ticket sales.
Each 4-H'er is responsible for paying entry and travel fees.
Entries will not be processed and sent to the State Fair without payment.
You will be emailed an invoice. Payment options include:

Pay by credit/debit card (will incur an additional 4% processing fee)

RULES OF PLAY
This contest uses the Texas 4-H Ag Robotics Rules of Play.
The 2026-27 Rules of Play will be released no later than one week prior to the opening date of the fair.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The contest is limited to a maximum of 40 teams per age division. Team entries will be accepted using the round-robin process.
Counties with more than one team may not have all teams accepted.
Read Section 2 of the State Fair of Texas Ag Robotics Rules to understand the process.
If you need any accommodations for this contest, please email those to Kaci no later than Monday, August 3, 2026.
The Extension Office will be submitting an excused absence notification to the schools.
Each contestant must be passing their classes and in good standing with their school. Grades will be verified prior to contest.

CONTEST FEES
Contest Fees vary from contest to contest. Please see each contest page for specific fees.
The contest fees are the responsibility of the 4-H'er. These contests are NOT ones covered by the Adult Leaders Association, regardless of selling raffle tickets.
You will receive an invoice from the Lynn County Extension Office for your share of the contest fees.
Because these contests are held across the state, you are also responsible for hotel and travel costs.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Uses Lego Mindstorms, Inventors, or Spike Prime robots. EV3's may be used, but Lego isn't providing updates to the technology anymore, so we are phasing them out.
Lynn County 4-H has robots for your use. It may be necessary for each team to provide their own device for programming (i.e. iPad, tablet, laptop)
Known challenges are released for teams to practice and program prior to contest.
Playing Field is 4'x8'
Rounds are 3 minutes
Each contest has mystery challenges that will be released during orientation right before the contest. Teams have the choice of trying to complete the mystery challenges or sticking with the known challenges.
School absences are excused and considered a school activity (including travel time).
Contest format:
Orientation--review of rules & release mystery challenges (30 minutes)
Coach Time--coaches have this time to discuss with their teams (10 minutes)
Build Time--teams build for mystery challenges, practice on the game boards, tweak programs, etc. (90 minutes)
Match Play--each team will run their robots through two rounds
Announcement of Finalists--typically top 5 scoring teams
Finals--typically 2 additional rounds; scores are cumulative and added to the prelim rounds
