STEM CLUB
Join the STEM Project Leadership Team in our own Lynn County 4-H STEM Club! We will hold monthly workshop-type meetings to explore and learn all aspects of STEM. There will be some field trips and tours and even some STEM careers! Each month will have a different STEM focus. The meetings will be hands-on and interactive! We will even do some community service.

CONTESTS
AG ROBOTICS
AgRobotics is open to 3rd-12th grade 4-H'ers. Contests run from October to April and are held at the major stock shows across the state.
The AgRobotics contest is a robotics competition where teams design, build, and program a Lego robot to complete challenges autonomously and score points in a 3-minute match. The theme and challenges change each year, but all are focused on some aspect of agriculture.
Each team will decide on their challenge strategy and will launch their robot from a designated home base. The robot will be programmed to move outside of that base and attempt to complete challenges within the given timeframe.

GEAR ROBOTICS
GEAR Robotics is open to Kindergarten through 8th grade students and is held in the Lubbock area. The contest usually starts in January and runs through April. Practices are on your own and the robotics meets are held in Lubbock.
During the 6 - 8 week long GEAR challenge elementary and middle student teams design, construct, and program robots using the LEGO SPIKE Prime kits or the older LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3/NXT kits, which contain structural elements, wheels, axles, gears, motors, sensors, and a simple microprocessor with a rechargeable battery. Programming of the robot is accomplished through an intuitive graphical user interface patterned after the widely popular Scratch software. Communication between the robot's microprocessor and the computer is done through Bluetooth or a USB port.
The challenge changes each year and is designed around a fictive story that motivates the need for autonomous robots (i.e. a robot operating in Antarctica, constructing a moon post, or performing surgery). To solve the challenge, students learn engineering skills through a teaming exercise in designing, building, programming, testing, and troubleshooting their wheeled LEGO robots. These robots then compete autonomously in two-minute matches on a 4-by-4-foot game field.

An educational presentation is a structured demonstration of knowledge and skills in a specific project area. The 4-H'er showcases their information in a presentation format for judges. Contest is held on the district and state levels.
